Teach Me Guitar Deluxe is another software package aimed squarely at beginners and casual learners. With that in mind, this is a quality product that will give you a good grounding in the basics of guitar playing, but nothing more. The product achieves its aim of taking the complete beginner who might not even have held a guitar before, and instilling in him or her the necessary confidence and skill to take the first steps towards complete mastery of the instrument. If all you require at the moment is a cost effective and casual way of simply getting started, then Teach Me Guitar is well worthy of your consideration.

This software package succeeds on a number of levels. The 30 well considered lessons are clear and straightforward with concise written descriptions, useful exercises and engaging visual accompaniments. Students will benefit from clear finger positioning charts, animated fret boards, illuminating diagrams and the friendly guidance and encouragement of respected session guitarist and pro tutor Ross Bolton. Subjects covered include beginner to intermediate level chord positions, simple melodies, scales, rock and blues style progressions and picking techniques. Perhaps the best thing about this method is that it refrains from overwhelming the student with too much information while remaining focused and supportive at all times.

Teach Me Guitar Deluxe includes a number of interactive features to improve its ease of use; Users can repeat or loop any given passage to ensure thorough learning, musical tempo can also be varied to allow the student to set the pace of study. The navigation of the software is intuitive and clear throughout with embedded icons and helpful links to definitions of unfamiliar terms and phrases. If students find they need more detailed information about a chord position, they can navigate directly to the chord library from the main lesson interface. The package also includes a good software tuner, a hard copy of all the tablature and a couple of free picks (always handy).

That said, what is here is well presented, and the package does offer a good and affordable way for a complete beginner to become comfortable and familiar with the guitar, and look forward to future musical endeavors.
