The Elmore Speed Learning System is an online guitar course which promises to teach you to play the guitar within 30 days. While that's probably a slight exaggeration, you can certainly be strumming a few chords within that time and there's plenty of content to keep you interested for longer.
What you get with the Elmore Speed Learning System is access to a variety of different guitar tutorial websites which each cover different aspects of learning to play the guitar, as well as a bundle of extra tools and software applications that can come in handy along the way. The websites are all fairly similarly designed and use a variety of video and audio techniques to take you through the basics of playing the guitar. You also get a chord dictionary application, scale builder tool and an application to essentially turn your PC into an effects pedal.
The course is aimed at beginner to intermediate guitar players. Beginners can get started with the guide to buying a first guitar, while intermediate players will be able to skip some of the initial lessons and move onto the more difficult content. Some of the lessons progress to some quite advanced techniques - such as 2 hand tapping which Eddie Van Halen made popular. Lessons cover both electric and acoustic guitar techniques and a variety of different styles, but rock is the predominant style covered and you can learn to play full songs by bands like Metallica.
The thing we don't like about the Elmore Speed Learning System is the way it is promoted on the website. The sales pitch is too forceful and quite clearly massively exaggerated where it values the whole package as worth $364 - but of course there is a "special offer" on today where you can get it for half price. It feels a bit like the online version of the QVC shopping channel.
In all you do get a lot of content with the Elmore Speed Learning System, but we don't think it quite justifies the hefty $147 price tag. However, there is a 30 day money back guarantee - and seeing as the course claims to teach you guitar in 30 days it can't hurt to try it!
